Economic Selection Indexes have become the “norm” for nearly all serious cattle breeding organizations. These tools are nothing new to seedstock producers in competing meat animal species, but have become impactful in beef cattle breeding, primarily in the past five to 10 years. Simultaneously selecting for multiple economically important traits and ultimately for the profit driven by those traits, is changing paradigms for the better.
